Gold Rush Travels
January 2006 - Joe and Karen traveled to three Central American countries this month to visit old friends and cup early samples from the year's crops. Below are a few samples of many pictures from the trip.

As a summary, these are pictures from the Ruiz and Carmen family farms. The Ruiz family is now in its second generation of coffee farming. As you can see by the pictures below, their coffees grow in a particularly beautiful region of Panama. The Carmen estate variety, which is a Gold Rush favorite, is grown under the shade of a mature forest canopy, which improves the quality of the coffee and leaves natural wildlife habtiat intact. This trip took them first to Panama followed by Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Check back soon for more pictures.
